Google and the Jagger update
Last couple weeks have been pretty big in Google land with a fairly big SERP update, and Pagerank/Backlinks also seeing updates. How did the Southern Highlands Online go?
How did we go?
<UPDATE1>Jagger2 update is now in progress and it seems we've been released from the new domain penality. Once it spreads to the other datacenters (which will take about 7 days), it'll be interesting to see how things go.</UPDATE1>
<UPDATE2>Seems the Jagger update is now over (or close to over). We're now ranking for most terms on the first page which is bringing in a lot more traffic. Yahoo also recently had an update which finds us at #1 for the terms Southern Highlands and Bowral (as well as lots of smaller terms such as Mittagong, etc.) Things are going amazingly well, and hopefully they will only get better!</UPDATE2>

Great actually. Although we still seem to be penalised for being a new site, our serps increased by a fair bit for lots of smaller terms. Once we eventually rank for the more competitive terms, we'll be unstoppable :P
The smaller terms are bringing the site about 500 uniques a day, which translates to roughly over 1600 impressions each day. Weekends tend to be a little slower than weekdays.
I would safely assume that we're a pretty close second to Highlands NSW. I would guess the official Southern Highlands Tourism site is third, and the rest would sit a fair way below that. Things always change though, so next update could mean the death of us! We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed :)
Google vs Yahoo vs MSN
This is an interesting one. Google is currently bringing in ten times the traffic MSN does, and twenty times the traffic Yahoo does. Although we tend to rank a lot better in both Yahoo and MSN, most people in Australia still prefer Google. MSN and Yahoo are still important, but Google is king when it comes to search engine useage in Australia. We've also had over 5,000 different search terms used to find the site this month so far, with the most popular being Bowral, Chevalier College, and Mittagong.
Pagerank
We've stayed at a PR5, but our Design Site (highlandsbydesign) is now PR6. Couple other sites we work on are also now PR6. Although Pagerank doesn't really mean a great deal, our egos consider it somewhat important. To put it in some sort of context, Google is PR10 and the Commonwealth Bank website is a PR6.
Other Stuff
