1. The Area Health Service investigation into the Bowral mental health service continues.
2. The doctor/nurse ratio at this service has recently been increased.
3. The HCCC has now officially approached this service as a result of consumer complaints.
- I believe MOST of the "team" of this service do a great job but what has happened (above) was inevitable. Investigations and some changes were necessary and can only result in some very ill and vulnerable people receiving better care and treatment.

It is a fact, though some want it kept a secret, that SSWAHS/Area Health has been investigating some problems at Bowral Mental Health service for several months. Hopefully, the results of this investigation will be that BMHS becomes a better service.
I do not know why the above cannot be made known.

There is no reason why it should not be known that there is still an on-going SSWAHS/Health Dept investigation into the local mental health service. Only good could come from this investigation for either a very small element within the service at Bowral will be cleared of any misconduct or wrong-doing or he/she/they will be dealt with; either way the service wins.

The service, which has been under some recent negative scrutiny by a local publication has had to remove its information blog at the direction of the Area Health Service. However, friends of the Bowral Mental Health Service have obtained the content postings and have reinstated them in a new blog site. This service is a free service for the community of the Wingecarribee and deserves to be supported. I encourage people to read the postings and to express support for this innovative service.

This is a free service provided by the local Area Health Service. It works within the Bowral Community Health Centre and the Bowral Hospital collaboratively with other specialist and generalist health services for the community. The mental health services that are provided include response to the acute care needs of people with a mental illness or disorder, the care coordination so that other health care providers are involved in the continuing care of the person who is a patient of the service. The range of services that are provided by the mental health service are excellent and they are applied to all age groups.

This is an excellent free service provided to the local community. For a small team the extent of their availability is really fantastic. Good clinical staff backed up by dedicated doctors. For a complete explanation of their service I recommend people to look at the following site:

I put in mental health bowral and got this site, and we have been to this place and they have not helped with the past situations or the CURRENT situation we are now dealing with.
This is the only mental health facility in the highlands and I am sure there are many PEOPLE out there who really NEED help, but this site or the area, has nothing to offer to them or us.

I am currently studies Mental Health IV (no clinical).
I would very much like to know what the Southern Highland is doing in this area. As in what services that are offered. Who is offering the services, and to what effect do they have.
