I would not return to stay here!

We were spending a few days in the Southern Highlands in June and thought that it would be nice to stay in the town of Berrima, as this was the only motel we could find at a decent price (the B&B were too much) we booked. Upon arrival the staff member behind the counter was nothing but sharp and rude to us, we simply wanted some infomration about the area, but this was just too much for her to help us with.
When we got into the room, we did turn on the heater as the room was rather cold when we entered, this didn't help much, as it was freezing in room throughout the night despite it being on all night. They did have electric blankets but really does anyone use those and surely they shouldn't be in a hotel due to safety.
The room itself is very dated, the fridge is loud in the room and so is the heating, the furniture is outdated. Upon checkout once again we had the same staff member check us out and we informed her of this coldness but she didn't care. I guess she got her money for the night stay and that was it. They don't even serve breakfast, I thought most places would have the basic breakfast, they do provide milk in the fridge but this was frozen when we went to use it. From what we could tell there was only one place in town open for breakfast.
Would I stay here again, no, it didn't look like many tourist were there, just a group of road workers.
It is a shame as the town is lovely and would like to visit once again but I would never stay at this motel again.
Stay Elsewhere, no matter the cost

On the basis of the review on this site, I booked in for our anniversary as we only wanted somewhere clean and warm. Unfortunately, even though the room looked clean and the female manager sounded rather pleasant on the 'phone, we found her quite unhelpful and rude in person on checking in. We decided to ignore that aspect but our experience only worsened we we went to bed that night. I noticed my nightie was becoming damp and smelt of urine. On investigation we found both sheets wet, but the outer blanket and bedspread were dry. After stripping the bed, we found the underlay was damp. We tried to call reception, but the 'phone rang out, so we took off the underlay, found the electric blanket (which we obviously did not use) appeared dry and remade the bed after I rinsed the damp areas of the sheets and dried as best I could under the heater vent. The next morning we left before reception was open as we did not want to linger longer than necessary. When my husband returned to pay the bill and to let them know about the wet underlay (so it would not be put back on the bed unwashed) it was suggested that he wet the bed!! If that was not enough, we were then charged more than quoted (and confirmed twice over the phone beforehand) for the room. When I questioned both these issues the female manager simply told me we were both lying and that was that. As I received a mild rash on my body from the experience, I would strongly recommend you stay elsewhere - Mittagong RSL has good clean accommodation if you want somewhere relatively inexpensive to stay in the Southern Highlands.
In search of serenity....

Looking to escape a full household, I chose the Berrima Bakehouse on it's position and outward appearance, including the expansive grounds. We were not disappointed. I had requested a quiet room and No. 1 room was just that, indeed we didn't even hear the couple next door moving about. The room decor was simple but worked well, the reception area pleasantly staffed & breakfast on time. We lapped up the central heating and enjoyed our meal across the road at the Surveyor General Hotel.
We would recommend it to any couple looking to enjoy the ambiance of the Berrima/Bowral area.
