Really Enjoyable

I was fortunate enough to win a Gift Voucher to stay at Milton Park last month. Everything about this wonderful place is 1st class. The staff were warm & friendly but highly professional, the rooms were gorgeous and the breakfast was to die for. Strolling around the gardens was like being in a fairytale. Top Marks!

Great Time at Milton Park

Two Words............Bloody Good!

OH MY GOD

Posted by Sandy at Wednesday 07 October 2009

I Have not stayed at this Hotel but now have a strange compunction to do so. I'm not sure if it's just on the odd chance I may see Anthony Hopkins being abused by the big guy or see Nicole Kidman chowing down on "rock cakes".

Sadly this seems more a blog site than a trustworthy review site. I wonder how many of these good, and bad, are true.

As this is being moderated and my comments may not see the light of day you may consider wiping this ridiculous review page altogether. As a potential client I only found to be a soap opera, although it was amusing!

Spoil Yourself

Milton Park has long been on my list of Hotels to stay at. This is largely due to its amazing reputation. I mentioned that I was staying at Milton Park to everyone in our city office and all of them praised it, even some that hadnt stayed before?

On arrival at the hotel, you see why it is held in such high esteem. The owners know exactly what they are doing. Everything is beautifully appointed, but in a sophisticated manner. The rooms are gorgeous and the facilities of the hotel are incredible.

I will now make a visit to Milton Park a permanent inclusion on my travel calendar. Well done to all the team at Milton Park and see you soon.

Milton Park

Kerry Packer spent a lot of time with the Hordern children growing up at Milton Park when he had Polio. I have seen a photo of him on the gate as a boy. I had the pleasure of chatting with Anthony Hopkins when he stayed and a signed autograph. He was staying for a week and seemed to adore the place. He had no problem with privacy and rehearsed his lines in the reading room. His voice is like listening to music and his eyes piercing.. he said he was right at home at Milton Park. His room was full of the finest antique furniture made rich by a open log fireplace. He was friendly and considering his sucess didn't seemed "spoilt" as some people have become. We felt the same way not just because he was staying when we were there but because we genuinely appreciate the beauty and the history of the place.

To whoever wrote "Telling Tales"?

Posted by Laura Hewson at Tuesday 23 June 2009

I happened to read this review whilst trying to get onto Tourism Southern Highlands official website. For what it may be worth, My husband & I, together with our two children, stay at Milton Park every Easter. Last Easter, not only did we see Nicole Kidman in the carpark, but my daughter played with her nephews, James & Hamish at the Easter hunt whilst they were waiting for thier mother, Antonia Kidman, and their two sisters to check-out of the hotel.

Hope I shed some light on any confusion.

Telling Tales?

Posted by Anonymous User at Sunday 21 June 2009

I was all set to book my holiday at Milton Park when I read the above comment entitled "Truly Exceptional Hotel" - Posted on Friday 12 September 2008, claiming that they saw Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins at the hotel during their stay.

As a personal friend of Nicole Kidman I know for a fact that she has never been to Milton Park. One must therefore must conclude that someone is telling tales... Perhaps the owners are trying to make Milton Park sound more than it is - I would have thought that to be unethical myself... It certainly makes you wonder how many of those fabulous reviews are legitimate... not impressed!

High Tea at Milton Park

Posted by Patricia Grant at Monday 15 June 2009

I took my family & a couple of people that were visiting from overseas to the Orangerie Restaurant at Milton Park. My Husband had the Mushroom Risotto which he let me try......the best risotto I have ever had. The rest of us has High Tea with French Champagne for $46.40 per person. It was sensational. The selection was stunning and beautifully fresh. Hot chocolate was cream based and to die for. The view from the Restaurant is truly magical. to have this experience for less than $50.00 per head is a bargain. I mean how often do you get to experience such decadence. Worth every cent. I'm not sure if the above review is legitimate?

High tea at Milton Park

Posted by Anonymous User at Thursday 11 June 2009

Last saturday, we decided to go and have high tea at Milton Park as we have heard so much about the lovely gardens. The gardens were nice, however the high tea did not live up to my expectations. We paid $36.50 each and got 3 layers with a wide selection of sweets, the scones were as hard as rocks, cakes and biscuits were so dry. It was the worst high tea I have ever had and the price we paid was a disgrace.

Awesome Experience

The Best hotel experience I have had in years.

Try High Tea in the new Restaurant - The Orangerie, it was heaven.

The Spa at Milton Park - A Must!

Posted by Wendy Matthers at Wednesday 20 May 2009

I booked Milton Park for a romantic getaway with my boyfriend last week (May 13) and can't speak highly enough about the service or the surroundings. Our guest room was massive with open fire, four poster king bed, spa, gorgeous furniture and a view to die for. Dinner was as good as any hatted restaurant we have dined at in Sydney.

Just when we thought that we were on cloud nine, we discovered the Day Spa and were elevated to heaven! The treatments were the best I have ever had and thats saying something given I travelled to some of the greatest spa's in the world when I was working as a tourism journalist a couple of years ago.

Will return every chance we get.

Milton Park & Lilianfels, Two of the Best

Posted by Deborah Hutton at Saturday 02 May 2009

We stayed at Milton Park last weekend. It was everything we had read about, in fact I retract that. You cant describe in words how beautiful the estate is, so it was better than we had read. After breakfast in the conservatory on the Sunday morning, we drove to the Blue Mountains and checked into Lilianfels. Both of these hotels are in a class above all other 5 star regional hotels we have stayed in. Although Lilianfels doesnt have Milton Park's amazing estate grounds, it is still in a great location. The week of our dreams.

Very Enjoyable

Posted by John Purcell - Bentley Australia at Monday 02 March 2009

We stayed at Milton Park in January, 2009 and must say were blown away with just how amazing this place is. We had one of the best dinners we have ever had the night we arrived. The Day Spa is wonderful and the gardens are breathtaking. Breakfast in the conservatory was lovely, although would have been perfect if I was able to get an espresso coffee. Milton Park use very high quality plunger coffee mid week, but only have espresso on weekends. This must be to prevent them getting slammed with 50 orders at once at breakfast, because when we had afternoon tea in the library we got espresso. The rooms were being fully refurbished when we stayed and we got to see one that was finished which was just gorgeous. All rooms were due for completion in February so anyone staying after then will be in for quite a treat.

Brilliant Service & Wonderful Facilities in an unequalled Estate.

Greak Weekend

Posted by Greg Jones ABC Radio at Monday 02 March 2009

We agree with the above review. Milton Park was truly exceptional. The Food in the new Orangerie Restaurant was brilliant as well.

Cant rate it highly enough.

The Perfect Weekend

Posted by Anonymous User at Saturday 21 February 2009

Firstly, the people that left the above review "Absolutely Discraceful", would have to be a couple of dopes. I stay at Milton Park regularly, at least every few months. I regularly travel overseas also and am used to the highest standards of service & luxury accommodation. Milton Park is the last of the great country house hotels, with remarkable facilities and brilliant service. The rooms are beautifully appointed and have recently been totally refurbished. So yes, you will smell the subtle hint of new paint and carpet, but would you prefer the place wasn't maintained??

Milton Park is worth every cent, and in comparison to the other run down hotels in the Southern Highlands, is an absolute bargain.

Absolutely Disgraceful

Posted by Anonymous User at Monday 09 February 2009

I recently stayed at Milton Park with my husband for our anniversary. Upon checking we were told that our room was not yet ready and would we wait. This was fine, although slightly annoying as we had arrived 30 minutes after the published check in time.

When we arrived in our room, there was an overpowering smell of paint and varnish, no air conditioning or heating and half the lights in the room didn't work. When I questioned the smell I was told that the hotel was being renovated and that our room had just been completed. After requesting to be moved to a new room I was told that we couldn't as all other rooms were being worked on. So not only were we stuck in a room that's fumes gave me a headache, but our romantic weekend was ruined by renovation noises form all around us.

The restaurant was not much better, with ignorant waitstaff and a stuck up manager. The food was lovely, but service was appalling.

The day spa was another let down, with their large spa (ONCE AGAIN) not working. My husband and I were at Milton Park over 18 months ago and the spa was out of order then. I can only imagine that the owners don't want to spend the money on it and people will be tricked into coming anyway.

It was at this time at we had reached the end of our tether, and when we decided to only stay one night and leave the next day as our experience has been so unsatisfactory, we asked for a refund on the second night's accommodation. We were then told that this was against Milton Park's policy and as far as they were concerned they have lived up to our expectations in every way. I was then confronted by a large man, who I have since been informed was the owner, who started abusing me to requesting our money back.

Needless to say we left very dissatisfied and will never return again. A TOTAL rip off and a poor experience to say the least and I feel extremely sorry for anyone who has to work under the owners!

Don't waste your time or money!!!

Elegant & Relaxing

Posted by Anonymous User at Thursday 11 December 2008

We stayed at Milton Park last weekend (Dec 08) and ant speak hughly enough about the service and facilities. The guest rooms have just been fully refurbished including new bathrooms, carpet, furniture etc and who ever did the interiors deserves an award. It was very elegant. Food was gorgeous and we both had wonderful massages at the Day Spa, which has to be seen to be believed.

Cant rate it highly enough, in fact even though we were quoted double that of Peppers it was 10 times better and worth every cent.

Milton Park

Posted by Anonymous User at Saturday 06 December 2008

Milton Park is an incredibly special place. It is very magical. You feel something very special about this place the moment you arrive. The gardens can be compared to some of the greatest gardens in Europe. If there was a place you could never leave it would be Milton Park.

Brilliant

Posted by Anonymous User at Tuesday 04 November 2008

My husband booked Milton Park for our Wedding Anniversary in October. We took a helicopter from Sydney airport down the coast and then up to the Highlands landing 30 mins later at Milton Park.

We were met by a freshly polished black Range Rover and taken to Reception. As soon as we walked in the front door my heart skipped a beat. This place was magnificent. It is like staying at a friends house for the weekend. The facilities rival the best international hotels of the world. Dinner in Horderns Restaurant was beautiful and the Gardens are breathtaking. We flew back to Sydney vowing to return every chance we get. Congratulations Milton Park, well done.

Truly Exceptional Hotel

Posted by Anonymous User at Friday 12 September 2008

My Wife & I stayed at Milton Park in September.

The Rooms are beautifully French & the hotel facilities rival the finest hotels of the world. To find this place in Bowral is unbelievable. We will be returning every year. Whilst we were their we happened to see Anthony Hopkins & Nicole Kidman. Apparently Milton Park gets heaps of Celebrities throughout the year.

Dont stay anywhere else when in the Southern Highlands.

Brilliant Service, Wonderful Venue

Posted by Anonymous User at Monday 25 August 2008

I attended a conference here in August 2008. I am returning with my wife next month. Milton Park is one of the greatest hotels I have seen, let alone stayed in.

Excellent Hotel

Posted by Anonymous User at Wednesday 30 July 2008

We stayed at Milton Park for 5 nights for our honeymoon and were blown away with just how special this place really is. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble & the hotel facilities are world class. We read a couple of negative reviews on this site, but can only surmise that these people dont get what this place has to offer, which is timeless sophistication and luxury. If you want a modern hotel in a sterile environment then Milton Park is not for you.

Disappointing stay

Posted by Anonymous User at Sunday 27 July 2008

We were very disappointed with our 2 night stay. We requested a quiet room on the first floor but were given a dark ground floor room. When we asked to be moved they said no that they were fully booked with a party. Our room was right next to the dreaded party that played thumping music into the wee hours! Not the relaxing break that we were hoped it would be. Why did they not put one of the party guests next to the venue? We also asked for a bottle of wine to be in our room on arrival, this also did not happen. The staff were young and inexperienced and made no effort with the hotel guests. This hotel is expensive and not worth the money that you pay for it.

Great Service

Posted by Anonymous User at Wednesday 23 July 2008

Milton Park is truly an amazing luxury hotel. We stayed in June, 08 and had a great time. We will make a point of returning every year.

Horderns Restaurant is Brilliant.

The best place to stay in Bowral

Posted by Anonymous User at Saturday 19 July 2008

We spent 3 nights at Milton Park in July, 2008 and can honestly say that it was a revelation. The attention to detail is superb, the Polo Bar before dinner is guarenteed to please and you must visit the Spa. Seeing is believing.

I wouldnt stay anywhere else.

The best hotel I have ever stayed in

Posted by Micheal Blannick at Friday 27 June 2008

Milton Park is located just out of Bowral. Dont trust the couple of negative reviews that appear on this site, clearly these people have not stayed at Milton Park. Everything from the service, the rooms, the huge day spa and rolling paddocks is magnificent. Make a point of dining at Horderns Restaurant, my wife is a noted chef in Sydney and she was blown away to find this dining experience in the country. You owe it to yourself to visit this hotel.

5 Stars.

Fantastic Hotel

Posted by Patrick Dale at Friday 27 June 2008

Stayed at Milton Park last weekend. Could not have been happier with the service, the facilities & the room. It is like stepping into a fairytale, the property is unlike anything I have seen in Australia.

Highly recommended

A shocker

Posted by Anonymous User at Monday 23 June 2008

After reading the review by another poor unfortunate guest of Milton Park - all I can say is I totally agree. The large man who abuses people is the owner - I am told. We too got abused by this person, for parking out the front while unpacking our bags. I am surprised that he has managed to make a living out of this beautiful place. The staff seem to try their best in making people welcome, but with an owner like this man, I would imagine he runs the place by fear not skill. It is such a shame that a wonderful historic house is not being run by a good person, it would make all the difference to how busy they could be. By all means stay, but keep out of the way of the owner.

not so good

Posted by Anonymous User at Wednesday 11 June 2008

The staff at this property re unprofessional and lack a sense of reponsibility and training.

the room are ok but not so clean, we had a few black hairs in our bed YUK, and the room wa smelly

Brilliant, Nothing Compares.

I have just had the pleasure of staying at one of the most finest country estates outside of Europe. Truely!

Milton Park was simply a revelation. I was referred by a collegue to stay down there for the weekend to get some much needed R & R and what a place to relax in.

The gardens surrounding the hotel are simply world class and the room we stayed in was surrounded in french/ country style furnishings which gave the room a warm & cozzy feel.

The day-spa is enormous and fulfills all your desires with high quality finishes throughout including all the latest gym equipment. The weather, while we stayed down there was sunny, yet cool which was perfect for this time of year considering the erratic weather of Sydney lately.

As for the staff they were very courteous and spoke politely to us without anything we asked for being to much trouble.

All in all a great experience and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone wanting to get away from the city and experience 5 star hotel service in a country atmosphere.

The worst

Posted by Anonymous User at Sunday 30 December 2007

Honestly a beautiful property but horribly run! Dreadful staff and the "owners or so they said" are arrogant and rude. Some huge guy was incredible rude when we asked to be helped with bags and he told us to F%*# off. truly never again and good luck to anyway who stays!!!!
