McVitty unloved
Posted by Claire Thomas at Tuesday 04 September 2007
My partner and I went to McVitty Grove cafe twice for breakfast over a weekend and were twice disappointed. The second time we were seated and asked for drinks. A few minutes later, a lady waitress made us feel very uncomfortable by coming to 'check' whether we had booked - for breakfast? why would you ask AFTER you had seated people anyway. Our coffees took ages and were lukewarm so I took them back to the counter and was it was implied that i was being overly fussy about it! The food likewise took ages and we left quickly after eating wondering why we'd bother making the drive when we live in Bowral with its much nicer cafes!!
McVitty loved
Posted by Ian Fegent at Thursday 13 September 2007
I can't help but doing a review to balance the "McVitty unloved review". We've been for both breakfast and lunch several times, usually taking visiting family members or friends. And yes we booked, even for breakfast. Everyone we've taken has loved McVittys and most have been back again.
We've always found the food to be high quality using good fresh tasty ingredients, beautifully presented and reasonable priced. Service is friendly, if leisurely - but you don't want express service when you've got such glorious views which are easily the best of any local cafe or restaurant. McVittys is one our favourite local eateries and our number one choice for breakfast.
