I always look forward to stopping at the Tick Tock when I drive from Canberra <--> Sydney. It's on the Old Hume Hwy so it's really not a big detour off the freeway at all.
The Tick Tock is open from 7 am - 5 pm daily and makes the most delicious pastries and cakes, a variety of good proper breads and excellent coffee. I haven't tried the quiches and pies, but they look fantastic too.
