Great food, friendly and relaxing

Posted by Sutton Forest Inn fan at Sunday 05 February 2012

I dont know what all the other reviewers are talking about. We go to the Sutto at least once a month for lunch and dinner and have had nothing but great food. The flathead fillets are awesome, the chicken schnitzel is outstanding with the mushroom sauce and the specials of smoked salmon and mussels are well worth a try. The proportions are very generous and well worth the money. Keep up the good work....if all the out of towners want to complain, let them!!! Its more fun for us Southern Highlanders to enjoy

Im sorry but I disagree about the quality of the bistro and the service while Jason owned the pub.We booked in for lunch one sunday, there was 14 of us for my fathers birthday,we all ordered at the same time but got our meals at different times.By the time we waited for all the meals to come out they were cold. I had brought a birthday cake along for dad and was told that it was illegal for them to serve it, Ive never been so insulted in my life as well as embarrassed. We had previously celebrated family birthdays at the bistro and cake was ok to bring along. When we complained Jason came out and introduced himself as the new owner of the hotel and head chef.Instead of an apology he rattled on and on about himself and his previous work experience. We havent been back since but its a great pity as we had many happy times at the sutton forest Inn.Perhaps it will once again become the friendly place it used to be, its not rocket science.

Ate there last week and the food was terrible. Bangers and mash for $20 bucks, c'mon, it was rubbish and worth $10 at best.

It's a shame though as the staff are really friendly and genuine.

Sorry folks, but next time I'll pass on the food.

Best Avoided

Since Jason and Charlie left the Sutto, the quality and variety of the dishes on offer has deteriorated sharply. I guess that now that the pub and the bistro are run by the owners it makes sense to deliver only the sort of mush that drunk punters love - chips and pies.
