Excellent Dinner for Two

Posted by Anonymous User at Monday 30 March 2009

We just ate at Vin Santo for the first time on a road trip through Mittagong. It was an excellent Italian meal in a very comfortable setting. Service was excellent and I recommend the Pavlova for dessert.

Ummmmm....... it's a restaurant.

Whenever I go out for a meal, I go out for a good time. Not to judge the performance of the maitre d', the dress sense of the chef, or the experience, or lack thereof, of the wait staff.

So on my night out, if the food's OK, the wine list is thoughtful and the beer is cold, everything is fine in the world for me.

This is pretty much the way it's been everytime I've eaten at Vin Santo. It's always been busy when I've been there, but that's never been a problem. I've never had to wait to be served, my drinks have arrived promptly, as has the food. It's a really good, no bullshit restaurant.

The good, the bad and the ugly

Posted by Anonymous User at Monday 06 October 2008

Good food, a great selection of pizzas that are some of the best I have eaten anywhere. The menu does not change, as it does not need to, every dish is tasty and there are no bad choices you can make. The bad, the staff need to be better trained, and show a little bit more love for their work, the manager?? Is this your first job, no sense of teamwork. The ugly, the decor could be updated, unless you like the retro look, and the bald guy should try to clean himself up a bit.

Vin Santo's

I've been eating here a long time, since it was in Bowral.

I feel that the staff that are here now are not like the staff that were there previously. These ones don't seem to enjoy working. The meals are good but you used to never be able to go wrong with your choice, but the chef seems to be slacking somewhat. A few times we've had to wait 30min+ to get served because they are so busy. With all these people it's often very loud and hard to hear! It seems the quality has... Slipped. It is still a good restaurant but I don't eat here as much as I used to.

Disappointed with Service??

Posted by Anonymous User at Thursday 31 July 2008

I must say that out of all the times I have been to Vin Santos, not only has the food been great but the service also, and the popularity of the restaurant speaks for itself. When I read the comment about the baby sqealing I couldn't believe someone would need telling their loud kid was annoying other diners?! I think the fact that the restaurant staff asked the group to leave is a positive sign that they do everything that they can for their customers to make their dinner enjoyable (or bearable). I commend the staff for doing what other restaurants often fail to do.

worlds best manager

i think the maitre'd of vin santo is so good she should be working for gordon ramsay at claridges or one of his other 3 michelin star restaurants

beautiful maitre'd

I think the manager of vin santo is the hottest woman in the world, and the foods great too.

Highly recommend it and look forward to every visit .The fact that it is so well patronised speaks for itself.

Disappointed with service

Posted by Rachael Flanagan at Wednesday 03 October 2007

My family and I have frequented Vin Santo for the past 3 years (probably about 12-15 times in all) and have always been impressed with the quality of the food and the family atmosphere. However, we had dinner there on 29/09/07 and were treated so rudely we will never be returning. It was my brothers 35th birthday but he didn't even get to blow out the candle or cut the cake before we were asked to leave. The reason being, my 12 month old son was squealing rather loudly - and I'm the first to admit it was quite irritating - but instead of the maitre d'hotel politely explaining the problem and asking if we would be much longer, she rudely told us that they'd had enough and threw the bill on the table - literally. There had been no prior discussion with us about my baby annoying other patrons to that extent. I've never felt so embarrassed or humiliated. Their food may be good but their staff (which seem to change on a regular basis and are mostly young and inexperienced) obviously need some training in customer relations. I've never seen this particular woman before and hope to never again. They've lost us as customers!

Great family restraunt...
