Super market supper poor farmers

Big suppliers pay the lowest price for there produce.Small green grocers pay a viable price and buy as they need without cold storage for long periods of time.
I often see second grade apples that cost $1.00 per kg being sold for $4.90 per kg in supermarkets.
At least Aldi sells at the correct mark up which means you get what you pay for.It probably makes small grocers upset as they take pride in what they do and and have to listen to lies such as that master chefs shop at coles. Yeh right!!! And the dum dum consumer joins the sheep parade once again.
good ol woolies

Good ol Woolies are a great supermarket to shop at and also work for may i say! The comments i read here regarding silly and nasty comments regarding a success story going right for Woolworths is pathetic, why is it that Aussies whinge, whinge and whinge. As for the fruit and veg is concerned it is in excellent condition and the same goes with all of its fresh food departments. Woolworths is STRICT with food safety and standards and has a high turn over in stock in all of its departments, which requires constant stacking and rotation of stock. Don't be daft here, sounds ever so typical of a tall poppy syndrome once again, and yeah yeah you Aussies need to be ashamed of yourself for knocking a company which has forged ahead to become a Great Success Story in which Woolworths has built on for many years now. So how can the fruit n veg be old and bruised lol ??? The person who made the nasty comments regarding the quality of Woolies fruit is bad business networking skills and practice! For you to claim you have better quality produce in your fruit shop makes you look rather jealous that you are not able and can't capture a huge market share to that of good ol Woolies...stop being a sore loser and be nice. Hypocrites ...lol, I'm a big one for high quality in fresh foods as I look after myself by eating healthy and keep an active and busy life style through regular training and find Woolworth fresh food departments and it's grocery (longlife department) to be excellent. Now how easy was that to be honest and nice ;-)
Quality

Hi,
I am a professional fruiterer and have been for more than 18 years, when people shop in my store i often get remarks on how poor the quality is in woolworth and coles, for a first hand view i often walk in these stores to compare quality, i must say that the larger store with such a great turn over of customers, cannot keep their fruit let alone the vegetables as fresh as they say 'the fresh food people'. i am astonised to see the amount of garbage that these stores sell at such a ridiculous price. gggggggggooooooooooo the fresh food people

Thank god for the ABC, ACA and Today Tonight, we know what really goes on behind the scenes.
Goodluck Woolworthes on lying to people about your "fresh food people" sales motto.
Good On Ya Chris!

I totally agree with Chris, most of the so called fresh fruits and veggies in the larger Super Markets is from Cold Storage. I wish they make it compulsory to display when the LOT on Sale was actually plucked, then everyone would know the water from the Milk. Yeah, buy your fruit and veggies from the Markets or the the smaller retailers who get it direct from small farms, that too close by, decreasing the carbon imprint as well as profits going directly to the farmersd rather than the filthy rich Super Market Owners.
Very interesting

Very interesting Chris it seems you dont know your apples from your pears. In fact I work at Woolworths and the fruit and vegtables come in fresh everyday. So I recommend you get your facts straight before posting rediculous asumptions about "wacky" gases in coolrooms. Its simply not viable nor legal Chris. So please on your next you comment, do some research beforehand.
Kind regards
Your fresh food person Hugh Gars
Interesting

Interesting since all their fruit and veg aren't fresh, rather kept in gas filled cool rooms for months, before they end up in stores.
I'd much rather buy elsewhere, where I know its fresh and healthy and doesn't rot so soon.
Woolworths Bowral

I live in Mittagong but work in Bowral and frequent both Woolworths stores often. I have noticed lately that even though the prices are similar the Woolworths in Bowral has much better quality fruit and veg than Mittagong . I am rather suprised by this as they are so close together. Woolworths must feel that Bowral people deserve the better and Mittagong customers just seem to get the discoloured bruised fruit and veg but pay the same price. This will all become interesting when Harris Farm opens.
