Box Vale Track

We did the Box Vale Track/Nattai George/40 foot Falls walk last Sunday 19 August. A perfect day and a great walk, with a few problems encountered en route. The walk from the car park along the Box Vale track was very easy walking, with a few photo stops at the various cuttings. Had lunch at the Nattai George lookout then decided to decend the 600 feet incline. This proved a bit difficult in places, mainly because the steel rope in one continuous rope and if it was jerked or tugged the person higher up received the "shock". We both had minor falls, a few bruises, and blisters. We didn't have leather gloves - unfortunately. Once in the george we becambe a bit confused as the markers seemed to disappear, only to re-appear, but a different colour than stated at the start of the incline. We eventually found our way to the "Natural Arch" then onto Forty Foot Falls. The falls were running and very spectacular. It took us 6 hours, with quiet a few photo stops, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. There were a lot of fallen trees in the george and we had to negotiate an alternate path around some of them, this was a bit rugged at times. A great walk, but allow plenty of time and hopefully one day someone will mark the track more clearly.
